The Board of OutFront Minnesota has named Carolyn Bye as Interim
Executive Director of the organization.
Bye was chosen from among several candidates for her extensive
experience in nonprofit management including in the areas of budget,
personnel, policy, and strategy. Bye has worked in key positions at
several major nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities including the
Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, CHART, Playwrights' Center, and the
Guthrie Theater. She has also served as a consultant to many other
organizations including The McKnight Foundation, Honeywell Foundation,
Dayton Hudson Foundation, City of Minneapolis, and Medtronic Foundation.
"Carolyn Bye has all of the qualities we were looking for in an
Interim Executive Director," said OutFront Minnesota Board Chair Michael
Robins. "She's got top notch management and financial skills as well as
a strong belief in the mission of OutFront Minnesota which will help the
organization move forward and continue to serve our GLBT and allied
community well."
OutFront Minnesota Board Vice Chair Jane Eastwood said Bye would
serve as Interim Executive Director for several months, during which
time a strategic assessment would be conducted, informing the search for
a permanent Executive Director beginning later in the year. The
transition in leadership was precipitated by the resignation in February
of long-time Executive Director Ann DeGroot.
"I'm excited to be on board with OutFront Minnesota," said Bye. "The
organization does extremely important work serving GLBT and allied
Minnesotans. I'm honored to bring my leadership qualities to such a
well-respected organization and look forward to being part of this
work."

Eastwood said that during this transition period, OutFront Minnesota
will continue its important work, including pursuing its
legislative agenda; organizing OutFront
Minnesota's justFair Lobby Day scheduled for
April 17th; providing anti-violence services, community organizing, and
legal services; and continuing to be a bedrock of leadership and support
for GLBT and allied people across the state.
Eastwood also emphasized that OutFront Minnesota's mission remains
the same, which is "to make our state a place where GLBT Minnesotans
have the freedom, power, and confidence to make the best choices for
their own lives."
