OutFront Minnesota had a powerful presence at the 2006 Twin Cities
Gay Pride celebration! (see photos) We hosted thousands of GLBT folks at our large
tent -- offering friendly conversation, drinks, t-shirts, buttons, our
annual Pride Poll (see results!), as well
as the opportunity to register to vote or fill out postcards that we'll
send to lawmakers urging them to vote pro-GLBT! OutFront's theme for
this year's Pride was Power Up -- and power up we did! OutFront was
honored to work with 125 volunteers who helped us do absolutely
everything -- they helped us set up and tear down, answer questions of
visitors, help folks sign up for memberships, and canvassed Pride goers
for community organizing. Have you noticed that OutFront has the
greatest bunch of volunteers anywhere?! OutFront Minnesota also had a
drill team march in the Pride parade complete with real power drills
with justFair signs attached that swirled around when we turned on the
drills -- a great way to grab the parade goers attention while reminding
all of us about the goal of equality for all GLBT citizens! Twin
Cities Pride is the single largest gathering of Minnesota's GLBT folks
each year, and a major opportunity to make ourselves known and available
to the community we serve. And OutFront Minnesota is PROUD of:
- Beating back the marriage amendment at the legislature 3 years
in a row
- 2006 justFair Lobby Day - 5,000 supporters demonstrated at the
capitol
- People of Faith rally co-sponsor - 1,000 supporters
- Cultivating and working with an unprecedented group of straight
allies
- Organizing and advocating for the GLBT community statewide
