Bible Self Defense Courses Draw Large Crowds

Participants Prepare for Constructive Dialogue

Read our op-ed on organizing
communities of faith on MinnPost

More than 160 people came to the Bible Self Defense courses, sponsored by OutFront Minnesota, Faith Family Fairness Alliance, and Soulforce Q. Participants learned about dissecting and gaining a larger understanding of Biblical text which has often been used to justify anti-gay bigotry and hatred, as well as learned about principles of nonviolent communication. The large turnout as well as the positive response from participants reflects a desire among religious progressives to counter anti-gay bias.

These courses are part of a larger effort to continue to organize people of faith around issues of GLBT equality.

Participants braved the cold and snow to learn how to better defend GLBT rights when discussing Bible verses with conservatives.
