Ann Tobin has been involved with progressive issues all of her life. Her passion for social change may be inherited from her grandmother who ran a social service agency in Illinois or her parents who were politically active. She served on the Headwaters Foundation Board for seven years and enjoyed being involved in their grant making process as well as forwarding their mission.

Last year, Ann joined the Board of Directors at OutFront Minnesota because she believes in the diversity of programs and services we provide to the LGBT community in the areas of organizing, public policy, anti-violence and law. “Growing up in the 60s, civil rights and women’s rights were important issues to me – LGBT equality is an extension of those issues,” she explains.

As the Chair of the Development Committee, Ann greatly appreciates the important role OutFront members play in the organization. “Sustaining donors who make monthly contributions are our bread and butter. Their robust support sustains the work the staff does at the Capitol and all across the state.”

She is excited about future prospects for OutFront. “If we can pass marriage and safe schools this session, it will be a huge victory for the LGBT movement in Minnesota.”

Ann, who is a lawyer, works in the health care field as a chief compliance officer. She lives in South Minneapolis with her husband David Booth. They are the parents of two adult daughters who both live in the Twin Cities and work for nonprofit organizations.
