We work with prosecutors and police departments to make sure that
they are sensitive to the unique needs of GLBT community members. We
also work with medical professionals to assess their current care
strategies and to help them develop comprehensive planning tools that
incorporate the needs of GLBT victims.
Finally, we’ve begun to establish an extensive network of trained
service providers throughout Minnesota. Our goal is to create a safe
place in every Minnesota community for GLBT crime victims to access
needed service.
All Anti-Violence Program training is free of charge. All trainings
are based on curriculum developed by OutFront Minnesota.
Current Training Opportunities:
- "Barriers to Service:" An entry-level training for community
professionals who may be working for the first time with the GLBT
community. This training is also a great resource for basic skills
building as well as a skills refresher
- "Domestic Violence and the GLBT Communities:" This training is a
domestic violence-specific offering that is targeted at service
providers of any experience level
- "Out For Excellence: Community Partners in Minnesota:" This is a
comprehensive program evaluation and training service to help
program providers assess their current services and receive training
on how to enhance those services to best serve GLBT crime victims.
- "Opening the Doors:" This is an advanced training which
incorporates three target areas: developing an understanding of
gender identity issues; identifying the unique needs of transgender
crime victims; developing tools for domestic violence shelters to
provide services to the transgender communities.
- "Does It Happen Here?:" Helping parents, friends and family
members of GLBT crime victims understand the unique challenges faced
by their loved ones after victimization
- Other community trainings: We can create specific trainings to
address the unique needs of an organization or community. Please
contact us to develop a training that meets your needs.
