Report It! - At OutFront Minnesota's Anti-violence
Program, we want to hear from you. In order for the AVP to create a
clear picture of hate or bias related victimization in Minnesota, we
need reports of your experiences as GLBT or allied community members.
We want to understand how hate and bias activities have affected you.
Too often, people in the GLBT communities don't report bias activity for
a variety of reasons including, as one client stated, "getting shouted
at is no big deal…", because we are afraid of the repercussions of
reporting or we may not know how to report something. At OutFront
Minnesota, we think this bias victimization IS a big deal and we are
here to help. We can provide advocacy and other support services as well
as information about safety and referrals to GLBT sensitive therapists
and attorneys.
You can report
online, by email/snail mail or through our crisis line. You can
choose how much or little information to give us and all reports can be
made anonymously. The anonymous statistical information will be compiled
into our annual hate and bias crime report to the National Coalition of
Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) as well as being used to educate others
about the safety issues facing our communities.
