In the past year, transgender people and issues that impact their lives have been in the news more than ever before. Nationally, Caitlyn Jenner recently came out as transgender. Laverne Cox appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine. Locally, the Minnesota State High School League overwhelmingly voted in favor of a policy to allow transgender student athletes to play on teams that match the gender they live every day and St. Paul Public Schools passed a gender inclusion policy. At the Capitol right now, conservative legislators have introduced several bills that would deny trans youth the ability to live their full authentic identities and still take part in their school's activities and access the facilities (bathrooms and locker rooms).
In response to these actions and a variety of requests from individuals, OutFront Minnesota is now offering educational trainings and workshops for transgender people, allies, and members of the media.
This current training cycle is for people who want to be better allies to the transgender community. No prior knowledge is necessary, just an open mind! Please RSVP to attend.
