Do YOU want to do something about VIOLENCE IN LGBTQ COMMUNITIES?
Would you like to gain experience as an ANTI-VIOLENCE ADVOCATE?
We need YOU!
OutFront Minnesota’s Anti-Violence Program is looking for folks willing to be trained as anti-violence advocates/peer counselors. You don’t have to be a student or seeking a formalized internship, but you can be! We welcome people seeking internships for credit as well as folks who aren’t. Anyone who wants to support survivors just for the sake of doing so is encouraged to apply. Our program has a vital need for advocates who can commit for at least one year. The next training will run from Saturday January 16th to Saturday February 6th. The deadline for registration is Friday, January 8th. The training itself is FREE – all we ask in exchange is that you commit to covering one shift per week on our crisis line.
We offer support and advocacy services to LGBTQA-identified survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, hate/bias crimes, and folks who have experienced any sort of violence, trauma, and/or discrimination based on their gender/sexuality. More than anything else we are here to listen, connect people with information and resources, and assist people in navigating systems, if they so chose. We believe that survivors themselves belong at the center of their healing process and that our role is to support them in whatever shape that takes.
