Last week, Savannah Ryan Williams was murdered in South Minneapolis. Savannah was a transgender woman and we, along with our community, mourn her loss. We extend our deepest sympathies to those close to her.

Only a few weeks ago our community gathered to remember those we lost to violence on Transgender Day of Remembrance. This news is a tragic reminder of how present that violence continues to be—particularly for transgender women of color like Savannah.

Trans lives matter, and we must all recommit ourselves to the work of ending violence and discrimination.
