Position: Religious and Faith-Based Organizer
Reports To: Organizing Director
Work Hours: Full-Time, Exempt; includes evening and weekend work. 
Compensation: $57-60K

Job Description 
As the Religious and Faith-Based Organizer, you are responsible for supporting and growing organizing efforts across the state in faith-based spaces of all traditions and through communities of religious and spiritual practice. These efforts complement our broader community organizing work by deepening engagement with supportive faith-based spaces and networks, supporting faith-based communities to confront and engage white Christian nationalist narratives, and deepening coalition partnerships to support faith-based voices on our communities' issues. Key project based responsibilities will include supporting events, organizing efforts, and coalition spaces.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • 35%: Directly support and lead on OutFront Minnesota’s work in shared Rights, Faith, and Democracy cohort and other coalition spaces collectively engaging around issues of faith narratives, and areas of public education and policy intersections 
  • 30%: Support, cultivate, and grow OutFront Minnesota’s faith-based networks and engaged religious communities through the work of our In Good Faith network and existing faith-based organizing structures.
  • 20%: Provide training to religious and faith-based organizations and community spaces around LGBTQ+ equity and inclusion work.
  • 10%: With the full organization, participate in and support staff-wide events including, but not limited to, Pride Celebrations, annual Youth Summit, Lobby Day, and Gala. 
  • 5%: Other duties as assigned.

Abide by and lead organization-wide efforts to incorporate anti-racism principles and cultural competency into all aspects of work. Lead in developing and growing an anti-racist culture within the department. Lead workplace and local community organizing equity and justice through open sharing of personal anti-racist ideologies and commitments. Offer consideration towards racial inequity, injustice, and historical trauma when working with BIPOC staff and leaders.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in community organizing or related work; with a strong preference for organizing experience with religious or faith-based community spaces.
  • Ability to travel regularly for community events and organizing work throughout the state.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete independent work within a collaborative small team environment.
  • Knowledge about and commitment to current LGBTQ+ issues
  • Strong commitment to equity for LGBTQ+ people, disabled people, people of color, transgender people, youth, elders
  • Proven ability and desire to work across differences such as race, gender, ethnicity, age, religious identity, and other aspects of identity
    Desire for coaching and learning new things
